Marc Quinn (b. 1964) is a British artist whose sculptures, paintings, and installations explore identity, beauty, and the fragility of life. Associated with the Young British Artists, he gained recognition for ‘Self,’ a sculptural portrait made from his own frozen blood, and ‘Alison Lapper Pregnant,’ the monumental marble sculpture displayed in London’s Trafalgar Square. His practice brings together art, science, and nature, using unexpected materials and striking imagery to challenge conventional ideas of perfection. From representations of the human body to vividly colored botanical compositions, Quinn examines our desire to preserve and reshape the world around us.
